MyTempoMusic is located in Kemptville, Ontario, and offers a unique variety of instrumental and theory music lesson for children and adults.  The studio specializes in working with beginning instrumentalists, and works at the individual's tempo to make sure they are learning to their fullest potential.

The Teacher

Kim Brown has enjoyed music in general since she was a child.  She began her studies in piano, but, with a number of different instruments at home, and dedicated teachers in elementary and high school, she had the opportunity to explore many different areas of music.

After experiences performing on bassoon, clarinet and singing, she finally settled on the saxophone.  She studied privately under the direction of Daniel Rubinoff and Peter Freeman, and received her Bachelor of Music from Queen's University.

Following her musical studies, she attended Nipissing University where she received her Bachelor and Masters of Education.  Through many music education courses, and personal interest, she also became proficient on the clarinet, flute, trumpet, guitar, and bass.

Since graduating, she has gained a wealth of experience teaching and coaching throughout the Ottawa area.  In addition to working in schools, both public and private, in many different age groups, she is a certified coach in curling and has developed and taught beginner leagues throughout Ottawa.

Kim currently teaches band and music theatre to 9-14 year-olds at a west-Ottawa private elementary school, and teaches one-on-one sax, clarinet, flute, trumpet and piano lessons at a studio in Barrhaven.  Having recently moving to Kemptville, she is excited to take on students in her newly designed home studio.

The Studio

MyTempoMusic is a home studio, designed with music instruction in mind.  Working off the Montessori principle of a well equipped, prepared environment, the studio has a variety of features that make it ideal for learners of any age and ability.

At MyTempoMusic, you will find many different resources, materials, and activities that foster guided yet independent learning, and ensure that lessons are engaging and enjoyable.  While rote learning is required for some areas of learning an instrument, we offer a balance and continuously check for musical understanding in a variety of ways.

The specialization at myTempoMusic is beginning wind players, but the studio has the flexibility to accommodate different needs and desires according to each individual student.  True to its name, MyTempoMusic allows students to move at their own pace and follow their own interests.
